Lions Girls
Today was warm and sunny in Frederikshavn (mid-70s). The Lions Girls played one game today in the afternoon, so they had a chance to rest in the morning before lunch and game preparation. They played a tough team from Norway, but they held their own. At the very end of the game, the ref called a foul in the box against us, so we had to face a penalty kick. Metani did an amazing job and blocked the shot, so the game ended in a 0-0 draw. The Lions Girls ended the first round of the tournament tied for second place, but the goal differential knocked them down to third. Tomorrow they will start playing the semi-final for third and fourth place. They'll play one game on Thursday and one more on Friday.
One neat part of the games at this tournament is the exchange of pennants. Here are three the Lions Girls have received:

And here are photos from today's game. After the game, the girls had chocolate milk, and then headed back to the school for pre-dinner and pre-World Cup showers. The plan, as far as I know, is to hang out after dinner and then watch the Argentina v. Netherlands game together.
Lars and Marco
Lars and Marco's team played this morning against a strong Danish team. The boys looked good, and both Marco and Lars played well, with Marco scoring the team's first goal of the game off a header. The team ended up winning 4-0 (!), which moved them into second place for their group. This means they will play three more games between Thursday and Friday during the playoffs.

I've updated the list of games on the Dana page of this site. Betsy has more photos from today on her phone that she'll try to upload later this evening.
Go Lions!
